Compile PHP Into Apache?

  • I'm wondering how to tweak PHP/Apache for max performance... would compiling PHP directly into Apache (with-apache= option) give the best performance overall?

For PHP - if compiled with multiple options, but most of those are disabled in "php.ini" would it still cause more overhead than less options in configure?

And lastly - has anyone worked on a good configure option for PHP... I know there's some stuffs in the docs, but that doesn't seem to be tuned for anything is rather generic/baseline just to get a usable PHP for vB.

best option is to disable everything you don't need at compile time

  • Why compile with options you don't use? In general, the leaner the better - this applies to Apache too.
