Linux: ccxstream needs user permissions?

  • hi!
i had media streaming from ccxstream (linux) to xbmc running for a long time, and now im setting up a new computer and i have a problem with ccxstream. the chances are good that i simply forgot something i did on the old pc to get it working, but ive already tried and searched for some days, so maybe its a good idea to ask now.

    problem:
ccxstream wont work without user-permissions anymore. my old config runs ccxstream as user 'nobody' for security reasons . if i do that on the new pc, i cannot access files on my pc. with normal user permissions everything works fine.

the shared folders are can be read by everyone, according to the file permissions.

are there any changes in newer ccxstream-versions wich could belong to this?

what permissions does ccxstream need that could be missing?

does ccxstream have anything like log-files, verbose-switches, etc ?

make sure they are also executable by others.

not that i know of, but i haven't upgraded it in a while.

if you can run it, the permissions are correct.

nope. strace is your friend, and has always helped me debug ccxstream before.

    strace -p <process id>

  • i got it, thanks a lot!

i had a parent dir that was rwx------ instead of rwxr-xr-x.
